Machine Press Infeed Guarding

Perimeter guarding of the material infeed and rear of a press

The device used for reset of the light screen latch must be located outside of the guarded area at a location where the entire guarded area can be clearly seen. The controller is programmed for 1-beam floating blanking to ignore the infeed material loop. The front opening of the press is guarded using a
Dual MINI-SCREEN system.

The infeed area and the rear opening of a high-tonnage press are guarded by a light screen used with corner mirrors.
Light Screen:
Long-range (18 m/60') MINI-SCREEN sensors are used with controller model MSDINT-1L2, which provides the latching output required for perimeter guarding. Two model MSM Series corner mirrors are used for guarding two sides of the press with one pair of sensors. Sensors and mirrors are mounted using four model MSA Series stands.


This application example depicts only generalized guarding and should not be automatically treated as a solution for any particular situation. Every guarding application has a unique set of safety requirements which must be carefully examined.
